The President told the Washington Times: I don't see how you can be president without a relationship with the Lord.
My reactions:
Initial - yikes. I wish he hadn't of said that. The liberals are going to get so much mileage out of it.
Then - I would really like to see the context of this sentence.
Now - I bet he is talking about his own perspective and experience. He can't imagine life without his relationship with Jesus Christ. I have said similar things about going through hard times - how do people who don't know Christ make it? My guess is that this is the sense he meant and it has been taken out of context.
