Here's a Trivia Question for You

Rush Limbaugh once used a theme song for his show other than My City Was Gone by Chrissie Hine of the Pretenders. What was it? I believe he only used it one day, but it might have been as long as a month. I believe it was in 1999 - while legal wrangling was taking place over My City Was Gone. First person to come up with name and group gets kudos from me.

"Una Paloma Blanca" sung by Slim Whitman

Rush Limbaugh began opening his program with theme music that sounded like the opening to a "breaking news" story on cable news, with an announcer saying, "America Held Hostage: Day 34," or whatever day of the Clinton presidency it happened to be. The "America Held Hostage" theme of Limbaugh's program was modelled after the way the Iran hostage crisis dominated the nightly news back in 1979.

Here's two ...

First, the title of the song summed up Rush's feelings toward Chrissie Hine at the time.

Second, and this is a dead giveaway if you know who he is, it is also the theme song of the Clark Howard radio show.

Good guess on Una Paloma Blanca, but no. That is the song that Rush plays backwards to make fun of the people who claim that music is back-masked.

The "America Held Hostage" always came on after the theme music, like the "Open Line Friday" bump.

I should've checked out more of your site, but I got hung up on the Browns going 9-7. I did notice you've already chalked up a loss to the Lions.

I knew the Fine Young Cannibals thing and yes the Clark Howard theme sone gave it away. Wonder what kind of a person listens to Clark Howard and makes pithy comments about pinantas?

I'm out.

Tim, I should have checked this one before I posted back on the Browns part. I mailman that listens to the radio a lot? Who would have thunk it?
