Pope Benedict XVI

I hate to admit this - but I am a bit disappointed with the selection of Joseph Ratzinger to be the next pope. I have nothing against him personally, I know little if anything about him. However, like many, I was hoping for a Third-World pope - one coming from Africa or South America.

Another old European white guy - yawn.

I think they should have elected Dave Boehning.

Butros Butros Pope Boehning.

Has a ring to it . . .

I guess if that were the case, we wouldn't be able to say, "Is the Pope Catholic?"

Well if the Pope ever needed to use an alias Pope Benedict XVI turns out to be Thom Florida. Sounds like a good alias to me! It sure beats Pope John Paul II and Pedro Swaziland!

I found this web page about Benedict, actually about Ratzinger. It's from the National Catholic Reporter. It's long and it isn't a glowing report. It's interesting to read it and then to listen to what Benedict is saying now. It's worth reading.
