Each time I have visited the Art Institute in Chicago, it seems that one painting captures my attention and imagination. This time, it was a painting by Francis Picabia (I had thought it was by Picasso). In 1913, when he took a ship from America to Europe, he noticed that each day a Dominican Monk watched a French exotic dancer practice her craft. Back in Europe, he painted the scene, entitled Clergyman. Something about it intrigued me.
What do you think?
