Flicks

On the recommendations of friends, I have seen some really good movies lately. And ... before you give me a hard time, I know ... I know, I am really late at seeing some of these. Anyway, here are my thoughts:

The Village - Wow. Another M. Night Shamalan masterpiece. There is not a movie of his that I have not loved. The Villiage is exciting and interesting and thought-provoking. I can see in it many parallels to the church. How often we isolate ourselves from the outside world, exaggerating the threat that exists, thinking that we can insulate ourselves from sin and pain. But the sin and pain are in us, not out there, and so they will always find us. About 2/3 of the way through, I turned to V and guessed the surprise twist. But even that did not dissipate my enjoyment of this flick. Very, very good.

Hitch - Oh man, did I laugh. Will Smith and Doug Heffernan, I mean Kevin James, were fantastic together. The story was predictable but still enjoyable. It was a chick flick for guys. The dance scene made me laugh so hard. Very good.

School of Rock - I am not usually a big Jack Black fan, but this was another enjoyable movie. We laughed at times, but mostly it was as a nice feel good story. V was dragging her feet about watching it, but she liked it so much that she stayed up watching special features while I went to bed. Good movie.

Haven't seen it.

Isn't the dance scene at the end of Hitch hysterical. I was crying I was laughing so hard.

Yeah, it was great! I was feeling bad for the girl who had to dance with Will Smith. Kind of intimidating getting giggy wit it with him.

You've got to see Envy. I think that movie is hysterical.
