The Story of Vintage

You can read the first part of the story here.

Why start another new church?

America is a mission field! Consider these facts: There are 195 million unchurched people in America. No county in America has a greater church population than it did 10 years ago. America is the 3rd largest unchurched nation in the world.

Sadly, most established churches in America aren’t getting the job done. According to Christianity Today:0-3 years old churches win 10 people to Christ per 100 members per year, 3-15 years old churches win 5 people to Christ per 100 members per year, while 15+ year old churches win only 3 people to Christ per 100 members per year. Win Arn reports that 4 out of 5 churches in America are plateaued or declining. And, in the last decade, the combined membership of all Protestant denominations declined by 9.5% while the national population increased by 11.4%.

New church starts are the most effective means of evangelism in America today! According to Ralph Moore, one American denomination recently found that 80% of its converts came to Christ in churches less than 2 years old.

Motivated by a desire to reach people for Christ in America today, it has become clear to us that the most effective way to do that is to start a new church.
