I Teach Fourth Grade

That statement alone is funny, but couple it with what happened in class today ...

When I give spelling tests, I say the word twice, followed by a sentence which I make up using the word, and then the word a third time. Today, the word "children" was on the list.

Me:

"Children.

"Children.

"I believe that children are the future; teach them well and let the lead the way.

"Children."

Student #1:

"That's the in the Bible, isn't it?"

Student #2:

"No, that's something George W. Bush said."

Ahh, a generation that knows not "Live Aid".

". . . We are the world, we are the children . . ."
