Would You Vote ...

for a person who made these Twelve Commitments?

1. I will keep America on offense in the Terrorists’ War on Us.

2. I will end illegal immigration, secure our borders, and identify every non-citizen in our nation.

3. I will restore fiscal discipline and cut wasteful Washington spending.

4. I will cut taxes and reform the tax code.

5. I will impose accountability on Washington.

6. I will lead America towards energy independence.

7. I will give Americans more control over, and access to, healthcare with affordable and portable free-market solutions.

8. I will increase adoptions, decrease abortions, and protect the quality of life for our children.

9. I will reform the legal system and appoint strict constructionist judges.

10. I will ensure that every community in America is prepared for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

11. I will provide access to a quality education to every child in America by giving real school choice to parents.

12. I will expand America’s involvement in the global economy and strengthen our reputation around the world.

Lemme guess, Rudy's rules?

Or....another round of empty promises by a politician?
Seriously, can we really believe anything that ANY of them say??
I doubt it.

And I'm typically not a skeptic/pessimist. But in my experience, politicians are always out for #1....themselves.

I second Tammi. Hard to trust any of them.

Who the President is matters. I am backing Rudy because I visited New York City before he was mayor and I lived in NYC when he was mayor. And I have seen first hand how he made a difference. Practical things like crime rates, quality of life, the economy, and education got better because he was mayor. September 11th didn't cripple us because he was mayor. Rudy is about results, not campaign promises. He is about leadership, not opinion polls. If he is making these 12 commitments, I have every reason to believe they are going to happen.

It is a clear sign that we are living in the end times. I predict it will come down to Rudy and Hillary with the outcome going to Hillary. Two pro-abortion candiates. Come quickly Jesus. Agape

You know I think I have finally come to the realization that abortion isn't the only issue.

Huh. A clear sign that we are living in the end times because there might be two pro-choice candidates for President of the US? I guess it is just not that clear to me. Care to explain what you mean?

In response:

If my prediction comes true, it will be the first time in American history that the democratic and republican candidates are both pro-choice and "pro-gay rights". I believe that Clinton and Guiliani will be the two choices on the ballot in '08.

Guiliani
“I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights,” Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on
what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded.

I don't want to come across as a preacher, because I am not. It just ills me when I see another Christian publicly support a candidate that favors gay and abortion rights. I somehow doubt that our Lord Jesus Christ would support a candidate that supports homosexuality and abortion rights.

As I stated in my previous post, I believe this is a sign that our Lord Jesus is coming real soon.

P.S. I also concur Jdub that abortion isn't the only issue. Hint: Gay rights!!

Do we vote with the mind of Christ,or the mind of the world view. It’s spooky out here. Where have all the real christians gone?

Robb Ryerse said...

I am pro-gay rights.

I believe gay Americans have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I believe gay Americans have the right to equal protection under the law.

I believe gay Americans have the right to equal access to health care, government services, and employment opportunities.

While I won't presume to speak for him too much, I also believe Jesus would care deeply about the acceptance and health of gay people. Didn't he say that he didn't come to condemn the world but to save it? Seems to me like a lot of politically-motivated Christians are more into condemning than saving.

Governor Bush, welcome to the Grenz.

In response:

I do NOT believe we should be unkind to homosexual people (or to anyone for that matter). So please do not make this into a I hate or condemn gay people. Not the basis of my plea.

The scriptures are the final authority.

Is homosexuality wrong according to the word of God? Yes

Is abortion wrong according to the word of God? Yes

Would a just and loving God give his nod to a candidate that supports homosexuality and abortion? The answer is yours to make.

My plea to you is to use God's Word with the help of the Holy Spirit in deciding who best to support.

I support Rudy for President for the following reasons:

- I am drawn to optimistic, visionary leadership.

- I believe he gives us an excellent chance of winning the global war on terror.

- I believe he will work to shrink the size and scope of government and will help to cut wasteful government spending.

- I believe that he will view immigration as a law enformance issue rather than as a politcal football.

- I believe he will focus on further tax relief to stimulate the economy.

- I believe he will nomiate so-called strict constructionists to the courts, which is where the battlefield of social and cultural issues lie.

While I do not agree with Rudy on every issue, I do believe that his record of results coupled with his commitment to the conservative principles of small government and a restricted judiciary make him the most compelling candidate for President. I trust him. I like him. And I can't wait to vote for him.

All of that said, I have good friends - in my church and in my family - who are supporting other candidates for President for a variety of reasons. They care about the poor, about peace, about justice and equality, about the environment. It doesn't freak me out that Christians have a wide spectrum of political views and are engaged in supporting various candidates. I think it is healthy and ultimately good for our country and world.

I have a great deal of respect for Rudy I think he is a great leader aside from the fact that he is pro-choice. I will continue to pray that the Lord put the right person in the white house. The important thing is to pray and fast that the right person be elected. I still feel strongly that we are very close to the Lord's soon return. I will support Sam Brownback even though I believe he will not be nominated. As I stated earlier it will be a race between Rudy and Hillary.

Robb Ryerse said...

Brownback? Not Huckabee?

Several weeks ago, I said here on the Grenz that I think that both party's nominees are not actually in the race yet ... Thompson and Gore.

Thompson is just about in, and Gore still has tons of time before he needs to get in.

And ... I think Gore wins in a landslide.
