Well, our transition from the movie theater to the Music Hall is just about complete, and Vintage is starting to feel like church again. The first couple of weeks in the new location were so full of adrenaline and angst that it didn't feel like home. But last week was good, and today felt great.
The place was full. It is so cool to have to set up more chairs and to meet new people.
The music was kickass. Seriously. Our band has gotten so good. I love worshipping with them. And it was neat today because we sang a song our band leader wrote (thanks, Chere!) and the powerpoint backgrounds were pictures one of the guys from church had taken (thanks, Matthew!). It made my worship experience a community one!
I won't say that the sermon was amazing, but I will say that everyone seemed with me. It is refreshing and invigorating to be myself with people, to openly share my struggles, and to seek to exalt Jesus together. This Philippians study has really captured my attention.
And the money. In September, Aaron will be doing a series called American Dream. Instead of buying advertising for this series, we handed out cash today and urged everyone to use what they were given to bring someone with them on the 9th. The energy in the room was so high when Aaron was walking around with his fat wad of cash handing out bills here and there. It was awesome. (Hey Justin, the Benjamins were at church today!) It pays to come to Vintage!
So there you go. A really good Sunday. Now I am going to help make some brats for lunch, have a beer, and hit the pool with my kids. Really good Sunday.
