Alito Is In

Not a surprise, but certainly a welcome conclusion - Samuel Alito is now a lifetime member of the Supreme Court.

I am kind of surpised that the Dems didn't do anything else to at least delay his confirmation. Getting it done today gives Bush some momentum to build on for tonight's speech, something I thought they would have avoided at all costs.

I watched some of his hearings and while I didn't hear anything that concerned me, he kind of left me cold. I know it isn't the best venue to exhibit personality, but at least Roberts made you like him because of his intangible charisma. I didn't get much from Alito.

Yeah, you're right. I think Alito actually has more personality and gumption than Roberts, but he was so heavily coached to keep that under wraps lest it hurt him during the hearings that he came off as cold. He should be a reliable conservative vote on the court.
