Mysteries

I am doing some writing right now about mysteries, and I curious what all of you find most mysterious in life. What are the dark mysteries that scare you? What are the mysteries that inspire you? What would you say are the most mysterious parts of our human existence? What other general thoughts do you have about the presence of mystery as a part of our journeys? I'd love your insight.

Among other things:

"I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.

Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun."
--Ecclesiastes 2:10-11

No matter what one does, it never seems to be enough. I don't know that it's anything to whine much over, but it is a curious thing.

Jay, that's interesting. I remember in like junior high speculating with some friends at camp that if you ever got to the edge of the universe, there would be a conveyer belt going the opposite direction, keeping you from reaching the edge. It's like going up a down escalator. You could see it; you just couldn't reach it.

Sara, on a related topic, I think sex might be the most mysterious part of human existence.
